This 2022 Griffin Series guitar is made from Hard Maple, Cherry, and Curly Maple. It has a 24-fret hard maple fingerboard with a scale length of 25in. The board has a compound radius of 15.5in at the tail down to 9.5in at the nut.
The Shape of the neck is what we call the Howie Thin Line. At the nut the depth is a shallow 0.86inches and at the 12th fret it is 0.89in. It was modeled after the 1960s Gibson ES 330 style neck…shallow all the way up the neck making it very easy on the hand and great for wrap around chording. The width at the nut is 1.68inches. At the tail it is 2.16inches.
The pickups on this guitar are very unique. They are Slash’s signature humbuckers from Seymour Duncan. They are the exact pickups that the GNR legend uses in all his Les Paul signature guitars. Slash helped Seymour Duncan voice these pickups to have incredible sustain, heavy crunch from the bridge pup and buttery smooth midrange from the neck.
The chambered body design of this guitar makes it incredibly light weighing in at just 5.7lbs. Compare this to a typical Les Paul weighing in at 9 to 12 pounds.
The finish on this guitar was done with a catalyzed urethane that is normally used on automobiles. This high-end urethane dries very fast and hard allowing fewer coats and a thinner finish.
This guitar has a very small millimeter sized blemish on the back of the body that I point out in the last picture. The point of a screwdriver hit it during the buildup.
