Howie Phoenix Series #P.20.77.21

Note: Click Here to see a video of this guitar in action!
This left-handed Phoenix Series has a 24-fret fingerboard with a 25.23in scale length. The hard maple fretboard has a compound radius of 15.6in at the tail down to 9.6in at the nut.
The Shape of the neck is what we call the Howie Medium Line. At the nut the depth is 0.9inches and at the 12th fret it is 1.0inches. It’s not super thin like the 1960s Gibson ES 335s and it’s not super fat and round like the old school Les Paul neck. It finds the sweet spot in the middle of these. The width at the nut is 1.68inches, and at the tail it is 2.16inches.
The pickups on this guitar are my personal favorites. They are the Hot-Rodded Humbucker set from Seymour Duncan. This combines the JB model humbucker, their most popular bridge pickup, with their most popular neck pickup, the Jazz model. This neck humbucker has been used by many great guitarists such as Randy Rhoads and Jeff Beck. You can find nearly any sound you are looking for with this versatile combo.
The chambered body design and the wood used for this guitar make it much lighter than a classic solid body. It weighs in right at 5.9lbs.
As usual with all of our Phoenix Series guitars, this guitar is made with “diamond in the rough” materials or materials that would have otherwise been thrown away. The top is a piece of super old hard maple that a friend gave me that had been sitting out in the weather for years. The fretboard came from an old, discarded neck blank.
The finish on this guitar was done with a catalyzed urethane that is normally used on automobiles. This high-end urethane dries very fast and hard allowing fewer coats and a thinner finish.
The rest of the nitty gritty details are all listed below and please check out the video included to hear the sound of the guitar and get further descriptions. There is also another video, if you are interested, explaining what the Phoenix Series is all about at this link….
