This is the second Griffin Series guitar built for 2018.  It comes with a strap and hardshell case. It is loaded with two Kent Armstrong P90s.  The body is a carved piece of solid Maple. The neck is Cherry and the fretboard is Ebony with Mother of Pearl Inlays. The inside of the body features our patented Nautilus shell design and is embedded with piezo pickups.  You can see this design in the last pictures above.  There is a 2nd switch added that blends the piezo pickups with the P90s.

We always name each guitar that we build because we become so close with the guitar through the process. This one was named after one of my best friends' daughter Helen.  She showed me a picture of a sea turtle as an example of her favorite color and the stain for this guitar matches the color as close as possible.

This guitar has been played quite a bit so it has some very minimal ware and tear so we dropped the price significantly

Several people have asked us to make a semi hollow version of our Griffin Series so we finally did it. This is the first Semi Hollow Griffin we have ever built and we love it! It has the same feel as the classic Griffin but is MUCH lighter, and similar to the Escape model, we carved one nautilus shell inside of the body (see the 2nd picture) giving it the signature Howie guitar sound.

You may have noticed that we name every guitar that we build. The story behind the name Nellie is fairly simple. One of my favorite people is John Wooden. This guitar having an all natural wood finish made my wife throw out the name “Wooden.” This guitar just needed a woman’s name though so we chose John Wooden’s wife’s name. Nellie it is!
